1. DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO TALK ABOUT SUPERSTITIONS IN MANY COUNTRIES IN CROSS CULTURE COMMUNICATION CLASS? WHY?
yes, i do. superstitions came down from old people to us, people of today, so we can see cultures through them. like what is important in this country, what people think that country... i guess every country has own superstitions and they should affect them cultures, personality, ...all things!
2. IS COMMUNICATION AFFECTED BY SUPERSTITIONS?
basically no. i never have communications affected by superstitions.
but there are some people or countries communicating with superstitions. the news i read last year said that a hotel in China did not accept an event held by Holland. because Dutch wear clogs, wooden hard shoes, and some Chinese believe a superstition: sounds of hard shoes give them bad things.
3. DO YOU BELIEVE IN SUPERSTITIOUS? IF YES, WHAT SUPERSTITIONS DO YOU BELIEVE? WHY DO YOU DO, USE, OR BELIEVE IN THEM?i do not believe in superstitions. they must be interesting and fun but believing them is kind of childish. i cannot believe things that is unsupported by fact and unseen.

HOMEWORK - Time
1. PLEASE EXPLAIN A TIME PROVERB IN YOUR CULTURE.
time proverbs in my country show that time is important and valuable; never come back. it may be connected to Japanese personality, strict about time.
2. WHAT DO THE FOLLOWING PROVERBS MEAN:
a. TIME IS MONEY.
time is valuable and worthwhile like money so we should not waste our time.
b. A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE.
you should fix them as soon as possible when you get some problems.
c. THERE'S NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT.
now is the best time or chance you have to do something you need or want to do.
d. LET'S MEET AT 4. IF I'M NOT THERE BY 5, LEAVE WITHOUT ME AT 6, AND I'LL BE THERE AT 7.
sorry, i do not know and cannot find this meaning.
